Producer Info

Meet Claudia Colmenares, the prominent farmer who owns and operates the family led farm, Providencia Y Santa Barbara. The farm already has 10 years of experience cultivating the highest tiers of speciality coffee and is rapidly progressing into the top realms of coffee cultivators.

Providencia Y Santa Barbara currently yields approximately five tons of coffee annually with over 16,000 coffee plants already in production, and has the very realistic goal of achieving a seven ton annual production capacity. Claudia actively promotes Colombian heritage through traditional coffee practises that are friendly to the environment and is passionately devoted to protecting local ecosystems. Already, Claudia has been instrumental in executing this important vision of cultural protection and has preserved 200 Quindío wax palms, an emblematic tree of Colombia.

As a natural advocate for maintaining cultural progress, Providencia Y Santa Barbara’s workforce are also all from the local area, providing a sustainable source of employment to nearby communities and acknowledging that those raised within the natural surroundings are masters of their own environment.

Claudia’s washed Castillo is an incredibly punchy variety that offers juicy raspberry flavour notes, delicately complimented by floral rose petals and jasmine. It’s perfectly balanced with a great body, truly unique and wonderfully delicious.

“Unlike the common Colombian coffee growers, we mainly produce typical variety. Our variety produces a much smoother and more balanced cup, and historically it is the variety that led to Colombian coffee achieving the denomination of ‘The smoothest coffee in the world’.” – Claudia Colmenares
